OF THE UNITED STATES

A digital public square

We the People of the United States is a civic and political social network. Citizens, business owners, candidates, elected officials, journalists and organizations speak directly with one another — in posts, structured debates, communities, and live Town Halls.

The workflow is deliberately simple: see an issue → understand it → see what your representatives are doing → discuss it with your community → ask them directly → join a live Town Hall → vote in an informal poll → follow what happens next.

Community Standards

Political viewpoints are never a violation — controversial and unpopular opinions are welcome. What is not: threats, harassment, doxxing, spam and scams, impersonation, coordinated manipulation, illegal content, and manipulated media presented as real.

Every member can report, block and mute. Enforcement that removes content or accounts is reviewed by a person, and every decision can be appealed. Verified public officials and organizations are held to the same standards as everyone else.

Verification is not endorsement

Account classes — Citizen, Verified, Public Official, Candidate, Government, Media, Organization, Business Owner — tell you who is speaking. They never signal that We the People agrees with them. Pseudonymous participation stays protected; only accounts claiming an official identity are verified.

How feeds are ranked

You choose your feed: For You, Following, Local, National, Issues, Town Halls, or Latest. Latest and Following are purely chronological. For You scores each post from a formula you can read in our source code: recency, plus comments (weighted highest), reposts and reactions, plus a boost for people you follow, issues you selected, and posts from your state. Nothing is boosted for outrage, and no post is promoted because an advertiser paid for it.

AI transparency

AI on this platform summarizes, translates, transcribes and helps moderate. Anything AI-generated is labeled. Summaries link back to the underlying posts, transcripts or documents so you can check the source. AI never manufactures quotations, voting records, election results or statements attributed to public officials — where a source exists we cite it; where it doesn't, we say so. Members can label their own posts as AI-assisted.

Privacy

Your city and state power local feeds and representative lookup; your precise location is never public. You control whether posts are public, followers-only, or community-only. During a live stream, the host and any guest on stage can see the names of signed-in viewers; viewers who are not signed in are only counted. Account export and deletion tools are part of the platform roadmap and available on request today.
